Donna Karan: What is design all about?
I’m sharing with you this inspiring video of Donna Karan talking at Parsons The New School for Design. It worth to take some moments listening her.
Some of the lessons I’ve learned from her talk:
“It’s very personal for me what clothes represents, it’s not what you’re wearing on the outside but how you’re emotionally feeling on the inside.”
“Creativity is one of the highest blessings one can have. You don’t learn creativity. It’s a gift.”
“Be able to see the empty space, be able to connect with the person and see what their needs are.”
“It’s not just being a designer. You need concept […] It comes from deep inside of you. It’s connecting you to your community.”
“In a Donna Karan or into other luxury product there is so much soul that is put into and that is the luxury. You’re dealing with so many levels. When you touch it, it touches you […] When you put it on, you know the difference. And you can afford that kind of luxury. It’s sort of like a developmental stage and then it works it’s way down to the mass […]”
There are many more lessons in the video. Enjoy!
