Creative Holiday Windows

I love it that when it comes to Christmas Holidays, window stylists became so creative.

The so-called unveiling of holiday window displays has become something of a competitive tradition for Manhattan department stores. Saks heralded its windows with a performance by the American Ballet Theater. But tutus and fancy footwork proved no match, ultimately, for Lady Gaga and her hair.

Gaga’s “boudoir,” designed by her stylist Nicola Formichetti for Barneys, presents a chaise, a vanity desk and a rather terrifying mannequin of the songstress herself, all made entirely out of hair — both human hair and the kind of artificial follicles used in wigs. Meanwhile, at Bergdorf Goodman, David Hoey unpacked a boatload of exquisite ephemera — as usual— along with leather monkeys, a plush mountain goat, a Baccarat chandelier and, every once in a while, an article of clothing.
